Now that Roe v Wade has been overturned, we need to be inclusive
in this work for reproductive justice for everyone.
WSFM has created a Prison Doula Program working group. Partnering with people who delivered their babies while incarcerated, African American Doulas, system impacted people who want to become Doulas and Midwives, the working group will focus on advocacy and legislation to create a program that works on the local, state, and national level to establish prison doula programs. The Doulas will work in jails and prisons with people who are pregnant and others who need education and advocacy for reproductive health while incarcerated. Our initial programs will be launched in Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, PG County Maryland, and North Carolina.
